How it works

As I have never been part of a book club, I am not sure how they "usually" work. If any of you have and found the model to be easy and enjoyable, let me know. Otherwise, I'll just throw some ideas out there and see what everyone likes. 1) Time per book I know this could depend on the length of the book, but how long, on average, does it take you all to get through a book? How much time do you want to devote to reading and discussing one book? I go through books rather quickly, but I hardly think anyone else would be game for a book a week (except maybe mom, who blazes through books faster than Kanye West's plummet with the public after "stealing Taylor Swift's thunder" during the VMAS). I was thinking a book every three weeks or a book a month? What are your thoughts? 2) Deciding on a book So the book selection isn't left up to one person all the time, I have a few ideas for changing it up: a) rotating through everyone so everyone can make a selection at some point or b) having two or three people suggest a book and then putting it to a vote (and then rotating those people so everyone can suggest a book at some point). Again, your thoughts? 3) Discussing the book Obviously the easiest and most practical way to discuss the books will be through this forum. I think it would be the best if at any point during your reading you want to comment, feel free to open a thread and start discussing. I only ask that we have some kind of "spoiler alert" system set up so no one complains of having parts of the book ruined. Perhaps for each thread name or subject, you can include what chapter you are at, or what chapters the topic includes. If there are any other ideas on how to run this please let me know!
